Generac Reaches EEOC Agreement Over Religious Accommodation Request

October 4, 2026

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced on September 30 that Generac Power Systems reached an agreement providing monetary and injunctive relief to resolve a religious-accommodation charge. The employee had asked to use biological sex-based pronouns when referring to a transgender coworker. According to the EEOC’s reasonable-cause finding, Generac did not fully engage in the required interactive process before denying the request; the agency said the employee later resigned.

Status: The agreement requires monetary relief and updates to Generac’s accommodation policies and training. This is an administrative charge resolution, not a court judgment. The EEOC’s finding is the agency’s conclusion, not a finding after a court trial.
